About Kathy and Joe Holden, the founders of Targeting a Cure for Parkinson's

Kathy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PD) in 2011. After taking a year to come to terms with her diagnosis, she and her husband Joe started fundraising for Team Fox. Their Bags Bingo for a Cure, held near their home in Maryland, was a running success for nine years until COVID interrupted. Kathy and Joe are also part of the team behind Tips for Parkinson's D.C., which has raised more than $200,000 in its three years. And, Team SheaKin for a Cure has raised money to support family members running the NYC marathon, hosted cornhole tournaments, and even held a kids’ triathlon. Instrumental in Kathy and Joe’s fundraising efforts has been their immediate and extended family, including their children, grandchildren, and their numerous siblings along with their spouses and children. Notably, Kathy was recently appointed to The Michael J. Fox Foundation Patients Council. “We are very excited to continue our fundraising through this expanded partnership with Top Golf. Last year, over 200 golfers playing in six cities raised over $120,000. The primary source of fundraising was through individual golfers sharing their personal fundraising pages on social media or through email," shared Kathy. "We look forward to a second year of Targeting a Cure for Parkinson's in 10+ cities from California to Maryland!"

About The Michael J. Fox Foundation + Team Fox

The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda, and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. Since 2000, MJFF has funded over $1 billion in research grants and initiatives to speed a cure.

Team Fox is the grassroots community fundraising arm of The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Each year, thousands of Team Fox members worldwide transform their passions and interests into unique fundraising events. To date, Team Fox members have collectively raised over $95 million for Parkinson's research. And, thanks to the generous support of an anonymous donor, 100 percent of Team Fox proceeds from events like Targeting a Cure go straight to the research programs funded by MJFF
